Earthqueake 8.3 Chile Illapel

September 16th 2015, 19:20 pm, compiled by the Regional Delegation of American Red Cross for Latin America.   

This report presents the situational report of the effects that have caused the earthquake at the central part of Chile.  

BACKGROUND

Being 22:54:32 (UTC) was an earthquake of 8,3 Magnitude, 25 km of depth according to USGS:

1.         54km (34mi) W of Illapel, Chile

2.         76km (47mi) WNW of Salamanca, Chile

3.         109km (68mi) NNW of La Ligua, Chile

4.         118km (73mi) SSW of Ovalle, Chile

5.         233km (145mi) NNW of Santiago, Chile

The National Seismological Center of the University of Chile reported an earthquake of 8,4 Mw

Until the end of the report, 15 replicates were held.

ACTIONS CONDUCTED BY THE RED CROSS

The National Society has activated the Emergency Operations Center and is in Communication with the Red Cross Chapters in order to collect information about the event, as well as IFRC.  

The American Red Cross, through the Regional Representative, is in permanent monitoring and in communication with the National Society.
